About Me

Hi there!

I’m so glad you stopped by.

I’m Laura Caseley, a writer, mother, and nonprofit leader originally from the East Coast, now living in northern Alberta with my husband and young children. For the past twenty years, I’ve worked in intercultural settings volunteering, teaching English, and now directing a charity that supports adult foundational learners. Spending time with people from diverse backgrounds has broadened my perspective and shaped the way I write about resilience, presence, and community.

My debut novel, Lavender Fields, explores grief, trauma, and healing, yet at its heart is a story of hope and emotionally intelligent love. I write for those readers who have lived through something and who long for stories that feel like a visit with a wise and trusted friend on a hard day, ones that invite you in to stay awhile, ask nothing of you, and leave you somehow changed after you go.

So, wherever you find yourself in this wide world, pull up a chair – there’s always room for one more. If you’re near the sea, take a great big inhale for me. I miss the ocean like it’s family. One day, I’ll probably write a whole book about it, but for now, I write from the prairie, sometimes the mountains, always with coffee in hand, chasing the kind of phrase that catches your breath, stirs your tears, and leaves your soul just a little bit lighter.

If you’d like to tag along, you’ll find me just below under “Find me at…”

Come on in. The water’s warm.
